German designer Hartmut Lohmeyer was student of architect and furniture design master Egon Eiermann. Hartmut Lohmeyer designed a series of some very beautiful pieces of furniture for Swedish, Dutch and Danish furniture factories. The designer mostly specialized in the creation of lounge chairs and dining chairs, those furniture pieces were not produced very much, so they are rare and highly valued.

Rare mid-century Columbus lounge chair designed by Hartmut Lohmeyer for Dux, Sweden, ca. 1954. Soft, sculptural form reflecting the shift towards organic Scandinavian modernism. Produced for a limited period as part of the Dux Studio collection and rarely seen on the market today. Professionally restored with refinished wooden legs and new Nevotex upholstery, maintaining original proportions and character. Documented in Andreas Siesing’s reference book on Swedish furniture design.
